Movember

I found this little gem when I was looking through my photos today.
Taken on a Sunday in the beginning weeks of November.
I know this not because of the date under the photo,
but because of that caterpillar crawling across my handsome husband's upper lip.

Two things.
#1- Cory probably shouldn't support prostate cancer awareness by growing a crustache,
i mean mustache.
Good thing he only lasted about 2 weeks before he got rid of it.
#2- Lo's face is so funny to me.
When I look at it I am reminded of Tom Haverford from Parks and Rec.
You know, his classic face when he is mocking something.
I like to think she was a little bit making fun of her daddy for the camera...
and posterity.

Pie face

For Thanksgiving this year,
all the Americans were rounded up for a little pie party.

When Hels emailed this photo to me I thought,
this face says it all.
Yum.

It finally happened

Winter is finally upon us here in Halifax.
It has been frigid all week and then this morning,
BAM,
it was here.
And the snow just fell all.day.long.
But that didn't stop us from having a wonderful day.

We got to play with the Farlands all morning
and eat Helene's 'test run' pie.
Then build a mini snowman.
Good thing I had a carrot on hand
or that little guy would have been more pitiful than he already was.
I got to drink hot cocoa out of my new mug
and watch Harry Potter whilst the little sweetie napped.
Then decorate some more for Christmas.
Let me tell you,
it's lucky I waited this long since Canada celebrates Thanksgiving in October.
And I feel that after I eat that turkey
I have every right to get my Christmas on.
Yet somehow, I lasted until mid November.
That is self control.

And when Cory got home the two of them played in the snow
and the wind nearly burned Lo's cheeks,
but I am the one who got to warm her chilled bod up afterwards.
I think I got the better end of the deal.

Overall, I think our first snow day was a total success.
Here's to hoping the rest of them turn out at least half as great.

"oh gosh, i can smell his face"

My favorite shell is back with a new video.
Check it.

Hehehe.
It's almost as good as the first one. Almost.

Wednesday, November 16

too good, way too good

I feel like I mention Helene a lot on this blog.
But I think she is kind of amazing and if these photos
that she took for us don't make you think that too,
then you are loco.

Perfect?
I do believe so.

Lovin

A few things that I am lovin lately in the entertainment department.

1. The Hunger Games trailer.
Holy moly I am jumping out of my pants with excitement.

2. The fact that 2 of my best friends and my sister have all said the same thing,
but on seperate occasions.
"I had no idea that Cory was starring in a hit movie."

It's uncanny the resemblance.
Especially the profile and especially to Cory when we were in hight school.

3. How stinkin funny New Girl is.

The "Naked" episode is the funniest thing I have seen since
Pauly Shore got punched in the face on Son in Law.
Which is pretty darn funny.

4. Watching Park and Recreation in bed by myself and laughing out loud so hard I have tears filling up my eyes.

Now that is quality alone time.

5. Parenthood.

It is the best show on tv right now.
No questions asked.

6. The countdown is on until Pretty Little Liars returns on January 2nd,
so that I can fulfill my inner dramatic 14 year old girl needs.

I know lots of people don't watch television or many movies,
but I sure do love them and can't seem to get enough.

Our pal Boston

Sometimes Lo can't play cause she has a cold
and then I find her and her friend doing this.

In reality, his name is Austin, not Boston,
and he is our cutey little neighbor.
But Lo insists that his name is Boston because she has another little fella friend in Utah named, well, Boston.
So confusing.

Sunday, November 6

Dear Kingsy,

I was sad when we heard that you were sick and couldn't make it to my party.
But I didn't want you to totally miss out,
so now I give you a photo overload of birthday day and party time.
Lets play soon.
Love,
Your best lady friend.

  A quick rundown:
fun decorations for the birthday girl,
breakfast of champions, doughnuts and suckers,
she loved wearing her birthday hat much to my delight,
opening her presents,
birthday cake and party decorations,
friends to play with upstairs and downstairs...lucky duck,
singing happy birthday and eating cake,
presents from friends,
and a tuckered out mama and 2 year old.

It was such a fun day and we were so happy that our friends could all come and celebrate especially since our family is so far away.

And maybe next year her cake won't look like a leaning tower:)

Say what?

My baby is...2.
Say what?
I have a 2 year old.
Maybe if I keep going over it, it won't seem so nutso.

No. It's still blowing my mind.
She had a great day and I will be happy to share,
but tomorrow cause right now I am worn out.
2 year olds are exhausting:)

Happy happy birthday Lolo girl!!!

Halloweenie

Our Halloween month has been lots of fun.
Loreli has loooved all the spooky decorations and pumpkins
so it has made this holiday just that much more entertaining.
I have gotten to wear my candycorn leggings almost daily
(Stephy, you know you are proud).
We have had scary movie nights aka Ghostbusters and Psycho,
and cookie decorating get togethers with our friends.
We did the ward trunk or treat, and real trick or treat so we have oodles of candy.
We made the annual Dal-oween trip to the college to visit all the daddies.
Of course we carved our Jack-o-latern.
And Lo was the cutest little elephant in the world,
with rainboots:)

She has already asked me today if she could go 'tricka treatin'.
This could be a long year.
Hopefully her birthday this week will distract her.

Sweetness

Have you ever had a day that was so rotten and sad
that you think nothing could be worse?
I met that day on Monday and let me tell you,
it was the least fun I've ever had.
Ever.

But then I looked at Lo all dressed up with her daddy
going out trick or treating and I thought,
my life is good.
And then I talked to family and great friends and I realized,
I will survive.
And then I got these little photos from Helene
which she took that very afternoon when she was watching Lo for me.

And I realized that everyday, even the hardest kind,
are filled with sweetness.
Thank goodness for that.

Halloween post coming up soon.

Common reoccurance

As I was loading photos onto the computer I started to notice a little sumthin sumthin.

That is a whole lotta rainboots.
She rocks these babies pretty much everyday because she can put them on all by herself and it makes her proud.
They are her go to footwear no matter the weather,
no matter the outfit.
If I ever want the chance of her wearing other shoes I have to hide the rainboots.
Even then I don't usually get my way.
She must have a tracker on them or something.

Fool me once...

But fool me twice, shame on me.

I wish I could say that I didn't know she was capable
of getting into nail polish bottles;
that it was a fluke.
But then I would not only be dumb for letting her play with it,
I would also be a big fat liar.
I have no one to blame but myself for having blue nail polish splattered all over me, my child, and our floor.
Cause she did it this summer in Utah too.
And oddly enough the nail polish was also blue.

That's what I get for trying to be a cute mom and paint her nails.
Good thing she was half naked, and good thing I was still in my apron
since I am soooo domestic:)

I love her face.
It looks like a mug shot.
Caught topless at a paint bar on spring break.

Ka-wit

This is the sweetest sight I ever did see.
That right there is the quiet book that my mom's young women's class made for ME when I was a resident of her womb 26 years ago.
And now, after some wrestling and hate words with Traci,
I have taken back ownership of it so that it can be restored for my little lady.
So far so good.
She doesn't quite get all the different pages,
but she L.O.V.E.S. looking and playing with it in her own adorable way.

Oh, and she doesn't say 'quiet' very well.
It comes out more like 'ka-wit'.

What a morning

I get Lo in the morning and she greets me with this little gem,
'I take diapa off mama'.
Then she dramatically lifts off her blanket to reveal her naked bottom half.
Sure enough.
Looks like somebaby is going to have to start sleeping in 1 piece jammies that zip and lock at the top.

Pickles, funny jokes, and hair

Lolo really likes pickles.
I think it is the strangest thing.
She asks for them for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
Who knew her pallet would be so refined.
And Lo is straight up funny.
She is into Superwhy, a lot. Gag me.
But she thinks it is so funny to say 'Supawhy nay-ked' and it is.
But her newest Superwhy joke is calling him 'Pooperwhy'. Ha!

Lastly I would like to publicly say that she is getting luscious hair.
We are talking hair that can go into piggy tails and a ponytail.
Finally I tell ya. Finally.

Her new favorite spot

Lo's new favorite place to be is on the counter.
Every time I go into the kitchen for any reason my side-kick is right there and she looks at me and says,
'I nana sit da counta mom?'
It kills me.
And I pretty much always give in.
So here she is on da counta helping make cookies.

She is more delicious than any baked good.

Bloody schnowza

At the park the other day somebody's dad let her fall on the climbing wall (there was really nothing he could have done, I just like to tease),and the result of that was her very first bloody nose.

Because it happened on his watch, he had to sacrifice his clothes to clean up the blood and bloody boogies until we could get home.
And of course take a photo or two before all the evidence disappeared.

Joy Ride

Bike rides are meant to be had when it is warm and sunny and fall is in the air.
And I got a new ride.
Check it.

Cory gets the joy of carting around the goods, aka, Lolo.
I hope the weather stays this excellent for a few more weeks.
Or months.
I sure love it.
Plus my scrawny legs can use all the bike rides they can get:)

New week

This is Cory's second week back in classes.
We miss him all day while he is gone.
We spend most of our time watching Sesame Street,
reading The Napping House over and over as fast as I can,
drinking chocolate milk and playing at the park across the road.

Oh, and wearing goggles as often as possible.
Just passing the time until he walks in the front door.
Have a happy week.
